Margaret's current home
New Construction
I'm fundraising to pay for a modest 1- to 3-room house (a house is approximately $7,350 based on size/location); includes furnishings like table/arm chairs, beds with mattresses/bedding/pillows). For example, Margaret Kalondu Makau, a single mother from Kionyweni, is doing everything she can to care for her daughter, Linet. Margaret lives with a physical disability and depends on a wheelchair for mobility, making daily life already challenging. In 2024, heavy rains destroyed their small mud home, leaving them suddenly homeless.
Today, Margaret and Linet are staying temporarily in a house belonging to her two brothers—both currently in prison for theft‑related cases. Their living situation is fragile and uncertain. When the brothers are released, Margaret and her daughter will have nowhere to go.
This family has been identified as highly vulnerable, with an urgent need for safe, stable shelter. The photo of their current living conditions shows clearly what words can barely express: they need a secure home, and they need it soon.
Your generosity can help provide Margaret and Linet with the dignity, safety, and stability every family deserves.

Karen, Angel and their family are another example of a housing need. Karen (15) and Angel (14) are bright, hardworking students in Grades 10 and 9. Today, they share a single rented room in a crowded market center with their guardian Mary, their aunt, and a young cousin. Five people in one small space, with no stability and no place to truly call home.
For years, the family has been unable to settle on their ancestral land because there was no suitable place for them to build. Recently, the children’s great‑grandmother offered a portion of her land so the family can finally have a permanent home of their own. All they need now is the support to build it. A safe, stable house would give Karen and Angel the foundation every child deserves — a place to study, rest, and grow without fear of being displaced.
A new house is made with bricks, cement, windows/door, and has a tin roof! And, local builders will be hired for the jobs (meaning employment opportunities).
